Dr. Walter Ongeti, Chief Executive Officer
KENAS is the largest accreditation body in Eastern Africa, with over 250 accredited organizations in 9 African countries. We work across a plurality of economic sectors, delivering accreditation as a tool for government, regulators, businesses, and industries that support and ensure the attainment of health and safety outcomes, protection of consumers and the environment, and quality of goods and services. KENAS is headquartered in Nairobi (Kenya).
Pursuing a career at KENAS means being part of a unique, stimulating State Corporation dedicated to upholding, demonstrating and living our National values of Equity, Inclusiveness, Equality, Non-discrimination, and Protection of the marginalized in its culture and work ethos. Our workforce cuts across all age and generational groups. In 2022, we had the first employee retire, and at the same time, we recruited our 1st Generation Z (Gen Z) employee.
KENAS was awarded the 1st Runners-Up under the Inclusiveness and Diversity category in the 2023 Employer of the Year Awards (EYA 2023) by the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE). Internship
KENAS offers internship opportunities under deployment from the Public Service Commission (PSC) Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) and the Presidential Digital Talent Programme (PDTP).

At KENAS, we ensure that deployed interns make the most of the time by learning new things, gaining on-the-job experience and knowledge, and, above all, using the internship opportunity to refocus their careers to enhance their professional development. Given the uniqueness of our services, we expose our interns to our everyday activities that allow them to build professional contacts and broaden their networks around our main business areas of accreditation and conformity assessment.

Because we attach great importance to the diversity amongst our Staff and recognize that this diversity enriches the organization in various ways, since 2022, to increase diversity further, we have always sought the deployment of interns recruited from unrepresented or under-represented groups amongst KENAS Staff.

Occasionally and in exceptional situations, we may directly seek to recruit whenever we have a project or skills unavailable from the interns deployed to KENAS.
