Board of Directors

KENAS Board of Directors are members from various stakeholders and opinion leaders who understand the need for accreditation.

The Board is currently made up of the following:

 Dr. Catherine Nyaki Adeya   Chairperson

Dr. Catherine Adeya is a results-driven, seasoned Information Scientist with over 20 years’ experience in multidisciplinary global environments, both in the public and private sector. She is an expert in bilateral and multilateral agency operations with consolidated expertise and excellent skills in research and data analysis, project planning and execution, finance management and policy development. For example, her expertise includes designing and managing large surveys focused on industrial clusters and innovation systems in Africa.
A strategic thinker with proven management and leadership skills, Dr Adeya has vast global exposure in the UK, the Netherlands, USA and most of sub-Sahara Africa. She is passionate about Results Based Management (RBM) and developing the potential of ‘millennials’ in the workplace.
She served as the Director for Business Process Outsourcing/Information Technology Enabled Services (BPO/ITES) at the Ministry of Information and Communications in Kenya from 2012-2013. Her job involved providing strategic leadership for the development of key flagship ICT projects in the Ministry. Dr Adeya understands how infrastructure projects work in Kenya having been at the helm of the agency responsible for spearheading the development of Konza Techno City; the first mixed use technology city in Kenya. The former President Mwai Kibaki appointed her as the founder CEO at the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KOTDA). Her key role was to ensure the highest levels of sustainable infrastructure planning and engineering including wastewater management, renewable energy, waste recycling and a sustainable transport system.
Dr Adeya-Weya has been a Judge at the Vision 2030 ICT Innovation Awards in Kenya; Ms Geek Africa 2017 in Rwanda; and the Innovation Prize for Africa in Botswana. She is a non-Executive Director of the Standard Chartered Bank in Kenya and the East African Educational Publishers (EAEP). She serves on the Editorial Board for Journal of Perspectives on Global Development & Technology.
Catherine pursued undergraduate studies at Moi Univeristy (Kenya) and postgraduate from Edinburgh, Scotland (UK). Dr Adeya is also a graduate of the Yale University ‘Executive Education – Women’s Leadership Program’ (2016). In addition, she is certified in corporate governance from the Institute of Directors of Kenya (2016), Africa Corporate Governance of South Africa (2013) and Centre for Corporate Governance of Kenya (2008).

Mr. Hassan Issack Hache is a holder of , Degree in public administration and Masters in Public Administration and Management specializing in administration and management in community development and NGO management. He also holds a Diploma in human resource and personnel management and has a wealth of experience in administration and management

Representative of Treasury
Ms. Stella Osoro is a holder of Bachelor of arts in economics and currently undertaking Master of arts in economic policy management. She has a wealth of experience as an Economist in the Public Sector.
Ms. Osoro is currently working as a Senior Economist at Treasury.

Dr. Joyce Jefwa
Dr. Jefwa holds a PhD in Botany – University of Pretoria; has a Diploma in Biosafety and Biotechnology – Gent University; an Msc. in Conservation of Soil Fertility – the University of Kent and a Bachelors Degree in Ed Science Botany, Zoology & Education – Kenyatta University. Ms. Jefwa has a wealth of over 30 years of experience as a Scientist.

Dr. Nancy Muriuki
Dr. Muriuki is a holder of a PhD – Organizational Leadership, Regent University, USA; Master of Business Administration (HR) – University of Nairobi; Certified Public Secretary (CPS) K; Diploma in Management – the Management University of Africa, Bachelor of Commerce – University of Nairobi. Ms. Muriuki has a wealth of over 28 years of experience in Human Resource Management, Institutional Leadership, and Governance.

Mr. Stephen Odua
Alternative Rep. of PS, Min Industry, Trade and Cooperatives
Mr. Odua is a holder of MSc. in Entrepreneurship.
Has a wealth of over 23 yrs experience in the Public Sector.
He is the Assistant Director of Industries, MoITC.

Mr. Martin Chesire
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) KENAS
Martin holds diverse international experience in Standardization, Accreditation and Conformity Assessment. He has previously worked with ISO – the International Organization for Standardization (Geneva, Switzerland) and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). He has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Moi University; a Master of Science in Quality Management and Business Excellence from the University of Stirling (Scotland), and an Executive MBA in International Management from the Université de Genève (Switzerland). He is a Chartered Quality Professional and a member of the Chartered Quality Institute UK.
